Darryn King is a writer, editor, content lead and licensed tour guide with decades of experience in journalism and publishing.

His writing spans a wide range of subjects including theater, music, film and television, architecture and design, video games and the future of work.

He has been published in The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, The New Yorker, Vulture, Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, The Atlantic, The Wall Street Journal, WSJ. Magazine, WIRED and others.

Previously, Darryn served as Arts and Culture Editor at Time Out Sydney, leading a diverse group of freelance contributors in the publication’s coverage of visual art, comedy, classical music, the performing arts and more, while also serving as the publication’s lead theater critic.

He is a question writer for Hasbro’s Trivial Pursuit games, also serving as a managing editor for the company, leading international teams of writers, editors and fact-checkers. He has served a similar role for the smartphone game company Fanatee, drawing on his editorial skills to craft engaging wordcentric gameplay for a global audience.

As a strategic copywriter, he has worked with clients including Christie’s, Microsoft, Indeed, the Brooklyn Academy of Music and Sydney Festival.

His fiction has appeared in The Sleepers Almanac and he is the co-author of Crime Fighters: Working for a Safer Australia.
